Your Marriage License

You can apply for a marriage license in any county in Iowa as long as you are both at least 18 years of age. The license fee is $35 and a three-day waiting period is required. Blood tests are no longer necessary. When applying for your license, both bride and groom must be present in order to sign the application before the notary. A third party, a friend or family member, also at least 18 years of age, must be present to serve as witness. When picking up the license, either the bride or groom may do so with proper identification within six months from application. The license is valid indefinitely.
