Head over Heels

Headpieces, jewelry and shoes are three special items of bridal attire that are often purchased with less consideration than the gown, yet are an integral part of your look. Below are some current tips and trends.

Headpieces and veils
The tiara is the most popular headpiece with rhinestones or crystal in cast metal settings.

  • When shopping for a headpiece and veil try to wear a camisole or tank top in white that resembles the neckline on your dress. This should make visualizing the entire look much easier.
  • Veil length is a personal preference, but take formality and time of day into account.
  • Your gown silhouette should be a consideration when choosing a veil style.
  • Choose the hairstyle you will be wearing on your wedding day before you make your final headpiece selection.

Jewelry

  • The look in wedding jewelry now is bold.
  • Chandelier earrings with pearls or crystals are currently a hot trend.
  • The classic, timeless look of delicate pendants, diamond stud earrings and bare wrists is always in-style.
  • Vintage jewelry is really popular now in sparkling crystal or glass beads.
  • Pearls of all shapes and sizes are a trendy way to look sophisticated and elegant.

Shoes
Comfort is essential when choosing shoes to go with your wedding dress. You could be on your feet for hours. Many brides buy an additional, more comfortable pair of shoes to wear during the reception.

  • Try and break them in before the big day.
  • Silk or satin are traditionally the fabrics used for bridal shoes.
  • Style and fabric of your wedding dress may define what your shoes will look like.
  • Always remember to take your shoes to all of your dress fittings so the hemline can be measured properly with your shoes on.
